INFJ — Advocate
The quiet idealist who sees through you
Overview
Advocates (INFJ) are the rarest — and likely the most misunderstood — of the sixteen types. Beneath a calm surface runs a vivid inner life: deeply held ideals, an intuitive read on people, and a quiet determination to leave the world better than they found it. Small in number, they often leave an outsized mark.
They pick up on what others feel — and often on what hasn't been said out loud — which makes them gifted confidants and counselors. Yet they are no pushovers: the same person who comforts a friend at midnight will march toward a distant vision for years. Crowds drain them, but one meaningful conversation can power them for days.
Their strengths are insight, empathy, and moral clarity. Their growth work is just as clear: stop giving until they're empty, and voice their own needs. And sometimes, let 'good enough' truly be good enough.

In relationships
Advocates can't be bothered with casual flings. They long for a soul-deep connection, and once committed they love with an almost telepathic attentiveness — remembering small things you mentioned once. Partners should repay that depth with honesty and consistency, gently draw out what they're bottling up, and take their ideals seriously instead of teasing them for 'thinking too much.'
-A / -T identity variants
INFJ-A Assertive: Assertive Advocates (-A) hold their convictions with steadier hands. Criticism and conflict still register, but they regain their footing quickly and keep walking their own path.
INFJ-T Turbulent: Turbulent Advocates (-T) feel every ripple of discord and hold themselves to impossible standards. The sensitivity deepens their insight, but they must watch for spirals of self-doubt.
